The 38-year-old is suspected of, among other things, insulting a monument commemorating a historical event and insulting the resting place of the dead. A drunk man was supposed to destroy the Soviet cemetery in Kartuzy (Pomeranian Voivodeship) under the cover of night. Losses were estimated at PLN 50,000.

On Saturday (January 14), around 10 p.m., police officers received a report about the devastation of the Soviet cemetery in Kartuzy. Upon their arrival, they noticed a man who started to run away when he saw them. After a short chase, they managed to apprehend the 38-year-old.

Sergeant Aldona Domaszk from the Poviat Police Headquarters in Kartuzy reported that the man was taken to the headquarters. – The 38-year-old was drunk. A breathalyzer test showed that he had nearly 1.5 per mille of alcohol in his body, she informed.

The 38-year-old was questioned and charged with three charges. According to the police, they concern the desecration of a monument commemorating a historical event, the desecration of the resting place of the deceased at the Cemetery of Fallen Soviet Soldiers, and the destruction of property. The man caused losses of PLN 50,000.

– The police took the man to the prosecutor’s office. The District Prosecutor from Kartuzy applied for a preventive measure in the form of police supervision and a property guarantee in the amount of PLN 1,500, the policewoman added.
