After the action of the Polish and German police, 10 people suspected of robbing trucks were detained. – The crimes took place at night in German car parks located on expressways and motorways – informs the Central Police Investigation Bureau. Those arrested face up to 10 years in prison.

The case concerns an organized crime group whose members have been stealing goods from trucks since 2013 using the “tarpaulin” method.

– The target of the perpetrators was primarily expensive electronic equipment, branded clothing, footwear, cosmetics and other valuable goods. This type of crime took place at night in German car parks located on expressways and motorways. Close cooperation with the German services, under the supervision of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Gorzów Wielkopolski, led to the breakup of the gang – informs subinsp. As he explains, the way the group operated followed the same pattern: after a thorough check of the parking lot and making sure that the drivers were asleep, they cut the tarpaulins of the semi-trailers, checking what kind of cargo was being transported. The theft took place after finding an attractive product. – One-time losses of the victims were estimated at hundreds of thousands of zlotys. The stolen goods were transported to warehouses in Poland and then sold on Internet portals, in stores, and even in the summer season in seaside towns at stands, according to Jurkiewicz.

According to the investigators, the members of the group created a rather hermetic structure with a clear division of roles and tasks.
