Aryna Sabalenka has a chance to win her fourth Grand Slam title in her career. In addition, she may become the first tennis player in 26 years to win the Australian Open three times in a row. The last time in 1997-1999 this was achieved by the famous Swiss tennis player – Martina Hingis.
Dawid Celt assessed Aryna Sabalenka's chances in the Australian Open. “I don't want to believe”
– Is Aryna Sabalenka the number one favorite or one of two or three – asked Marek Furjan, a tennis commentator in the “Break Point” program on YouTube.
– That's a difficult question. I don't want to believe that Sabalenka will win the Australian Open for the third time in a row. I rate the chances of Gauff, Sabalenka and Iga Świątek highly. Rybakina is a little behind them. If I had to definitely name one tennis player, it would be Sabalenka, because she won twice in Melbourne. What blocks me is the fact that she would win three times in a row in Melbourne – admitted Dawid Celt, captain of the Polish national team.
In the first round of the Australian Open, Sabalenka will face American Sloane Stephens (84th WTA), winner of the 2017 US Open. In the third round, 20-year-old Linda Noskova (30th WTA) may face the Belarusian Linda Noskova (30th WTA). It was the Czech who sensationally eliminated Iga Świątek in the third round of last year's Australian Open.
Look: They asked Zverev about Świątek and Collins. “A piece of history there”
– Noskova defeated Iga in Melbourne, but she had a mediocre start to this year [odpadła w III rundzie w Brisbane i już po pierwszym meczu w Adelaide – red.]. For now, she is not in shape, but maybe she will wake up – added Dawid Celt.
