EU food regulations: They enter into force from January 1, 2025 new recipes for fruit and vegetables and some processed fruit and vegetables, as well as bananas. They have to make it information on products will be more transparent, and consumers more aware of what they buy. All information must be easily legible, visible and understandable to the consumer.

No more simple slogans: These are also to be removed from product packaging terms such as “highest quality”, “premium” etc. Terms implying better or higher quality that are not legally regulated are prohibited. Only quality class designations such as “class extra,” “class I” or “class II” will be permitted. In the case of products covered by a detailed marketing standard, additional information should also be provided regarding: the name of the variety and size or, in the case of fruit packed in rows and layers, number of pieces.

A clear message: “Products can be put up for sale, provided the retailer will display, in a conspicuous place near the product, clear, detailed information regarding the country of origin and, where appropriate, classes product, its size, variety or commercial type in a way that avoids misleading the consumer,” says the Agricultural and Food Quality Inspectorate.
