Two people were killed in a shooting in a parking lot in the city of Charlotte in the US state of North Carolina. Two more were injured and are fighting for their lives in hospital.
The shooting took place on Saturday just after 3 a.m. local time. Local police reported that 4 people were shot near the apartment building. A doctor pronounced one victim dead at the scene, and the other died after being taken to hospital.

Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, WCNC-TV reported. It occurred in the Steele Creek District. Police officers responded to a call about an “assault with a deadly weapon.”
Confrontation in the parking lot
Maj. Dave Johnson said the shooting occurred between two groups during a confrontation in the parking lot. – There are many unanswered questions – he explained.
According to the police, there is no threat to other people, but the crime scene is very large and examining it will take a lot of time. The police asked residents to provide the homicide department with information that could assist in the investigation.
In the United States, nearly 70 people have died in mass shootings (at least 4 people killed or injured) this year. More than 95 people were injured. The most fatalities, nine, were reported on January 21 in Joliet, Illinois.
