On Sunday morning, firefighters from the Volunteer Fire Department in Wierzchowice were called to Chatkowice near Milicz (Lower Silesia Province), where a camel fell into a pond. The animal was unable to get out of the water by itself. The firefighters brought the camel ashore and transported it to a safe place.
The firefighters received the notification at 4:30. According to “Gazeta Wrocławska”, it was about the camel Czesia, who performed, inter alia, in the movie “Big Animal” directed by Jerzy Stuhr, and on a daily basis he lived in an exotic animal farm.
In an interview with TVN24, firefighters described that when they arrived, the owner of the camel informed them that the animal had a problem with its legs. As she reported, the camel slipped off the dike and fell into the pond.
Firemen from Volunteer Fire Department together with firefighters from the State Fire Service in Milicz pulled him ashore and warmed him, and then transported him to a safer place. The animal was very weak and cold. After warming up, she felt better and began to eat.
As the firefighters said, the operation was quite difficult and unusual, but with all precautions it was possible to end it safely.
According to “Gazeta Wrocławska”, a veterinarian will decide about the animal’s future.
