On Sunday morning, Ukrainian drones attacked the OMON special forces base, the barracks of a special police regiment and the military base in the Chechen capital, Grozny, from which soldiers were sent to the war in Ukraine, the opposition Chechen Niyso channel reported. The media publishes recordings showing the moment of impact.
The recordings show, among other things, how the flying drone descends during the flight and hits one of the buildings of the military base in Grozny. The Chechen opposition channel Niyso wrote that one of the videos was recorded by “an officer of the occupation forces, probably on the premises of an OMON special forces base.”
According to Niyso, on Sunday morning, Ukrainian drones attacked an OMON base, the barracks of the 2nd special police regiment (a unit of the Chechen OMON “Akhmat-Grozny”) and a military base from which soldiers were sent to war with Ukraine.
Kadyrov's entry
Chechen President Ramzan Kadyrov said in a Telegram post on Sunday that three drones attacked Grozny that day. Two of them were shot down by air defense forces. The third one fell on the territory of the OMON “Akhmat-Grozny” base, Kadyrov wrote.
“We will respond to any attempt to attack our targets with more precise and harsher retaliatory strikes,” the Chechen leader warned. As he stated, immediately after the drone attack on Grozny, he provided the Russian military with operational data on the location of a large number of Ukrainian soldiers in Kharkov, which were supposed to be hit by Russian Iskander missiles.
Increased attacks
In recent days, Ukrainian drones have intensified attacks on Chechnya. The first such attack was reported at the end of October this year. The target of the attack twice was the area of a special police regiment, located four kilometers from Ramzan Kadyrov's residence, reported the independent Russian website Meduza.
On December 12, four Chechen police officers were injured as a result of drone attacks, Meduza added.
