General Motors decided to recall all Chevrolet Bolt electric cars for repair. This has to do with problems with the battery that could start a fire. It is estimated that the entire operation will cost $ 1.8 billion.
In a statement published on Friday, GM informed that about 69,000 were previously withdrawn. older Bolts have been joined by newer ones produced in 2019-2021. The message explains that the batteries in these cars have factory defects that may, in rare cases, cause a fire.

The first batch of Bolts was withdrawn in November last year after five cases of fires were recorded in these cars. Two people poisoned themselves with smoke and the house with a garage with cars burst into flames.
The batteries, manufactured in South Korea by LG Chemical Solution, will be replaced at the manufacturer’s expense. The last decision will cost the concern – as it is estimated – about USD 1 billion, and the cost of the entire operation is estimated at USD 1.8 billion.
The company announced that it will demand compensation from LG.
