On Monday, over 20 migrants, including women and eight children, stayed in front of the Border Guard post in Michałów in Podlasie. On Wednesday, the spokeswoman for the Podlasie Border Guard Unit, Katarzyna Zdanowicz, said that the migrants were “under the procedure in accordance with the regulation”. She also reported that the migrants “have been led to the border line and are now in Belarus”.
On Friday, the Border Guard published a communiqué on this matter. It said that on Monday “officers from the Border Guard post in Michałów found a group of Iraqi citizens in the border zone who had illegally crossed the state border.” “Due to the fact that this group included children, the officers decided to transport these people to the Border Guard Post in Michałów to verify the legality and purpose of their stay in our country” – we read.
As reported by the Border Guard, “Iraqi citizens, including children, received drinks and food from Border Guard officers.” It added that “none of these people needed medical help and reported that they expected such help.”
