This is the second knife attack in China in recent months. In September, a Japanese student was fatally stabbed in the southeastern city of Shenzhen. In the same month, a knifeman killed three people and injured 15 in a Shanghai supermarket.

In October, a 50-year-old man was arrested near an elementary school in Beijing, stabbing five people, including three children.

Saturday's knife attack is the second multi-fatal incident this week. On Monday evening, a 62-year-old man drove his car into a crowd of people in Zhuhai in southern China, killing 35 people and injuring over 40.
