Severe thunderstorms swept across eastern China. It was raining heavily, gusty winds were blowing, and there was also hail. There are deaths from violent weather. Three people died after a crane weighing several hundred tons fell on them.

The weekend in eastern China brought very strong storms. At least three people were killed on Sunday after gusty winds toppled a shipyard crane in Wuhu city, Anhui province. According to the authorities, the device weighed 450 tons and fell on the building where security guards were staying.

In Nanjing, the capital of Jiangsu province, gusts felled trees on Saturday, damaging vehicles and blocking roads.

In Wafangdian, Liaoning Province, there was a heavy hailstorm, which contributed to the damage estimated at 200 million yuan. The phenomena destroyed as much as 7,000 hectares of land. On Saturday, a record rainfall of 48.1 liters of water per square meter was recorded for one hour.

It is also not safe in the south-western regions of China. The downpours disturbed, among others, the inhabitants of Guangxi, flooding roads and partially flooding buildings.

China’s meteorological authority on Sunday renewed blue warnings – the lowest of the four-level warning system – for heavy rainfall in regions such as Guangxi, Guangdong, Hainan, Henan and Hubei. Rainfall of up to 120 l/sq m is still forecast in the northern part of Hainan province.
