The results of the paternity test showed that this is not his biological son. The police contacted the abandoned uncle and grandfather, but they also refused to accept the child. The mother didn’t pick them up until a week later.
According to the South China Morning Post, the father left his five-year-old son at his kindergarten in the Guangxi-Chuang Autonomous Region in the south China along with the backpack in which he put his phone and a change of clothes. When he didn’t come back for the baby in the afternoon, the staff decided to contact him.
Grandfather and uncle refused to take the boy
The man told one of the guardians that he would not come back for his son as he had discovered that he was not his biological child. The kindergarten worker went to the house where the boy lived with his parents, but found no one. The whereabouts of the five-year-old’s mother were not known. So the kindergarten notified the police, which contacted the boy’s grandfather and uncle, but they refused to take him in.
According to reports from Nanning radio and television station, the boy’s mother picked him up a week after his father abandoned him. The news of an abandoned child sparked outrage among Internet users in China, but under Chinese law, the man “did not commit a crime because he is not the boy’s biological father,” said a lawyer quoted by Jiangxi Morning Daily.
Number of orphans in China
Abandonment by parents is not uncommon in China, the South China Morning Post notes, but the number of orphans has been declining in recent years. According to official data, in 2020 there were about 193,000 in China. orphans, this is 17 percent less than in 2019.
