President Joe Biden spoke about the objects shot down off the coast of the United States. “At this point, we don’t know exactly what they were, but there’s nothing to suggest they’re intelligence balloons from China or any other country.” They were most likely balloons associated with private companies, perhaps they were weather balloons, he said.

Despite the unprecedented operation to shoot down mysterious flying objects over North America, very little information has been provided about them so far. The president made the announcement on Thursday Joe Biden.

– After the Chinese balloons flew into our airspace, our air force, in coordination with NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command – ed.), tracked their flight path. Three such objects were tracked on our radar screens. I gave the order to shoot down these three objects because they posed a threat to civil air traffic and the risk of falling on civilian infrastructure – he said.

He said he had spoken to the prime minister about this Justin Trudeau on Saturday. – We acted with great caution until a safe opportunity to shoot these objects appeared. Our military and the Canadian military are working to recover the remains of the downed objects so we can learn more. We are assessing all three incidents at this time and are doing our best to provide the full picture.”

“At this point, we don’t know exactly what these objects were, but nothing suggests they are intelligence balloons from Chinaor from another country. They were most likely balloons associated with private companies, perhaps they were meteorological balloons or other scientific experiments, he suggested.

Biden: I will not make excuses

Speaking about dealing with China, Biden said his country was “not looking for a new cold war.” “But I’m not going to make excuses,” he said. – We will compete, we will manage this competition responsibly so that it does not turn into a conflict – he explained.

– This case highlights even more the need for open lines of communication at different levels. I am in constant contact with President Xi, I am very grateful for what our intelligence, military and aviation specialists have done over the past few weeks. They are excellent specialists, he said.

He announced that he would talk to Xi. – I hope that we will clear all doubts. But I will not make excuses for shooting down those balloons. The president did not answer journalists’ questions.
