The court in Chodzież received a response from the curia to the order to issue the files of the case concerning the former priest Krzysztof G., accused of rape and molestation of an altar boy. – The Curia informs that on December 12, 2018, it transferred all these documents, both originals and copies, to the Holy See – says Krystian Marchwiak, president of the court in Chodzież.
Two weeks ago, the District Court in Chodzież gave Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki 14 days to issue files on the former priest Krzysztof G., who is accused of rape and molesting an altar boy.
As the court informed, if the files are not received within the prescribed time, the police will search the premises of the curia in Poznań.
A response from the curia was sent to the court on Thursday. – The court received a letter in which the Curia informs that on December 12, 2018, it transferred all these documents, both originals and copies, to the Holy See. The Curia emphasizes that in order to obtain the documents, the District Court in Chodzież should turn to the Holy See – says Krystian Marchwiak, president of the court in Chodzież.
“We understand and support”, but we do not have any deeds
The Curia confirmed this information in a message posted on Friday. “We understand and support the need for a reliable explanation of the case, but the only and effective way to obtain it is to refer the Court to the Holy See in the form of international legal assistance” – we read.
As emphasized, the Archdiocese of Poznań “has no advantage in not disclosing the trial files of the person who caused a public scandal of the Church community.”
And it was recalled that after their proceedings it was decided to expel priest Krzysztof G. “Uncritically reproduced in the media information about the detention of some” extensive dossier “and other secret documents in the Curia is untrue. The Curia cannot issue files that do not exist” – the curia wrote in a communication. Earlier, when files from church proceedings were requested by the prosecutor’s office, Archbishop Gądecki first claimed that the documents were secret, and only later did he convey that he had sent them to the Vatican.
– The whole translation was a lame in the case, that is: an attempt to delay the receipt of information by the court that could be important – assessed Faktom TVN, Dr. Piotr Szeląg, lawyer and theologian.
He was supposed to hurt him for several years
The case of the former priest is pending before the court in Chodzież. Krzysztof G. was supposed to hurt Mr. Szymon for the first time in 2001. The victim was 14 years old, he was an altar boy in the church in Chodzież. The clergyman was to use Simon B. for several years. He was to be raped and molested. As he claims, he saw the defendant for the last time in December 2015. At that time, Krzysztof G. was to visit the victim at home. He was also to plead guilty and say that he himself would report to the Archbishop. Stanisław Gądecki.
– The prosecutor’s office sent an indictment in this matter in December 2020. The man was presented with three charges. Two of them concerned rape, and one – harassment as a result of abuse of trust, recalled Łukasz Wawrzyniak, spokesman for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań.
Krzysztof G. is threatened with up to 12 years in prison.
After the church trial, the perpetrator was expelled from the priesthood.
