Two years after the case was publicized, the prosecutor’s office brought charges against four people who in 2019 worked in a private kindergarten for disabled children in Chojnice in Pomerania. The caregivers were to physically and mentally bully the three-year and four-year-old kindergartens by beating, jerking, intimidating, closing in dark rooms or plugging the mouth.
As Paweł Wnuk from the District Prosecutor’s Office in Słupsk confirmed to us, a kindergarten teacher, teaching assistant, therapist and organizer of movement classes who worked in the kindergarten in Chojnice in 2019, heard the accusations. Investigators confirmed that they had used physical and mental violence against children.
– The accused hit, kicked, yanked and dragged the children across the floor. They hit them in the face, back and buttocks. They also used a floor sweeper for beating – the prosecutor is enumerating. The children were also bullied.
They crossed them off the list
As the parents of children alerted in 2019, guardians were to close preschoolers in a dark place, silence them by stuffing handkerchiefs in their mouths. The director of the institution reacted for publicizing the matter by striking out the preschoolers’ lists those children whose parents made a public noise. About the case then reported the TVN24 magazine “Polska i Świat”.
As Prosecutor Wnuk told us, the investigation initially covered five people, but the investigation into Marek K. was requested by the prosecutor’s office for a conditional discontinuance of the proceedings.
According to investigators, the violence was supposed to take place between February and April 2019. The main evidence in the case is the surveillance recordings and testimonies of the injured children who were interviewed in the presence of a psychologist in the so-called blue room.
The accused face up to 8 years in prison.
