Police from Chojnów (Lower Silesia Province) have detained a 32-year-old man suspected of beating his own mother. The woman managed to escape, lock her son in the apartment and ask a neighbor for help. Now the man faces up to 12 years in prison.
On Monday, police officers from the Police Department in Chojnów received a report about an aggressive man who allegedly beat his own mother. A patrol was immediately sent to the scene.
– As it turned out, the 32-year-old man was calling his own mother vulgar names, threatening her and hitting her in the face and hands several times. He also took her phone so that she could not notify the police – explains junior cadet Anna Tersa from the City Police Headquarters in Legnica.
The terrified woman ran out of the apartment, locking the door behind her and preventing her son from leaving the apartment. She asked a neighbor for help, who called the police.
He attacked the policemen
– When the officers entered the apartment, the man was aggressive and agitated. He did not respond to the officers' commands and insulted them using words commonly considered vulgar. When the officers started to detain the man, he attacked them, but was very quickly overpowered and handcuffed – informs Tersa.
The police connected the man to the theft of alcohol committed several months ago in one of the stores. Investigators gathered evidence that allowed them to charge him with a total of seven charges, including criminal threats, bodily harm, insulting officers, influencing official actions and audacious theft. The 32-year-old committed the crimes while being a recidivist, having been released from prison only six months ago.
– At the request of the District Prosecutor's Office in Złotoryja, the court applied a preventive measure in the form of temporary arrest for a period of 3 months. For the crimes he committed, he now faces a penalty of up to 12 years of imprisonment – Tersa reported.
