Late Saturday evening, the names of the participants of the 18th Chopin Competition qualified for the fourth and final stage were announced. The jurors bent the regulations, indicating 12 people, because according to it there should be no more than ten finalists. Two Poles were among the dozen finalists.
The announcement of the results of the third stage was scheduled for 10 pm. But in the end, we had to wait for the names until 11 pm. Due to the high level of the competition, the jury had a hard time to chew. Ultimately, they decided that 12 participants from 10 countries will qualify for the finals. These are:
1. Leonora Armellini, Italy 2. JJ Jun Li Bui, Canada 3. Alexander Gadjiev, Italy / Slovenia 4. Martin Garcia Garcia, Spain 5. Eva Gevorgyan, Russia / Armenia 6. Aimi Kobayashi, Japan 7. Jakub Kuszlik, Poland 8 Hyuk Lee, South Korea 9. Bruce (Xiaoyu) Liu, Canada 10. Kamil Pacholec, Poland 11. Hao Rao, China 12. Kyohei Sorita, Japan
In the first stage 87 pianists and pianists competed, including 16 people representing Poland. 45 people advanced to the second stage, 23 people competed in the third stage, including six from Poland.
18th International Piano Competition The Fryderyk Chopin festival runs from 2 to 23 October. The first edition of the event took place in 1927.
