The hooligans threw racing and objects at each other during the Saturday match Ruch Chorzów. The police used bang grenades, a water cannon entered the stadium. 19 people were detained, it was also necessary to move families with children from the audience to the treadmill. President Chorzów only wants to let in women and children.

On Saturday, about 13,000 fans gathered at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów. When the football match was played by Ruch Chorzów and ŁKS teams, forbidden flares were launched in the sectors. Due to the smoke, the game in the first half of the meeting had to be stopped for a few minutes.

Families were evacuated from the stadium

It didn't end there.

– There was a confrontation between the supporters of both teams in the sectors. They threw flares and objects at each other – says commissioner Magdalena Jurkowska from the police in Chorzów. The films published on the Internet can be seen that trash bins have been in motion.

The stadium's order service failed with smokers. – The escalation of the incident was so great that the police were asked for help. They used bang grenades. A water cannon also entered the stadium, but it was not used ultimately, its very view will work a deterrent – explains Jurkowska.

19 people have already been detained. The police are looking at monitoring entries to identify the next participants of the event.

Nobody was injured. The police also do not inform about the destruction of the stadium.

“Stadium only for women and children”

Szymon Michałek, President of Chorzów, reacted to the event in social media. Already on Saturday he announced that on May 16, during the meeting of Silesian local government officials, which was to involve parking during mass events at the Silesian Stadium, would raise the matter of security and security of matches.

“I will expect explanations from a security company and a club,” he wrote. “Regardless of the punishment that awaits movement, if the punishment is closed, I have already commissioned President Seweryn Siemianowski to make the next possible match to the stadium to be only for women and children under 14” – he added.

The president referred to the incident in the family sector, which was evacuated because of the incident during the Saturday match. The sub -inspector Jurkowska emphasizes that nothing happened in this sector, but for safety – above all children – it was decided to lead everyone to the stadium's treadmill.

Michałek removed his Saturday post, but pasted him in a commentary on the new post from Sunday, in which – as he described – he clarified what he meant.

“If the league commission imposes a stadium closing penalty for the events of yesterday's match, I will want at least women and children and disabled people to enter the match. For 10 years I was building a family sector and a view of families evacuated from it on the treadmill of the Silesian stadium pulled my heart out of my chest. The reason for this evacuation will be carefully checked by me, but in 2015 I created this sector as a safe place for families for families stadium “.

Michałek added that he would “expect explanations how ŁKS fans got into the gastronomic zone of traffic fans, why pyrotechnics were thrown on the advertisements of our sponsors, or the separation of fans was properly prepared and how the security company worked.”
