The plane that crashed in Chrcynno in Mazovia did not have to be equipped with a black box, said aviation expert Paweł Jajkowski. He explained that the regulations do not require the device to be factory-installed in such a model.

He emphasized that, of course, if someone wanted to, they could install a black box in such an aircraft, “but as standard it was not equipped with any recording device”. – I do not know the configuration of this particular aircraft, but it could have been fitted with another device recording engine parameters, position and so on – he noted.

The black box records data related to the flight of the aircraft. It is designed in a way that increases the possibility of surviving an air accident. The black box record is used to determine the causes and course of abnormal behavior of the aircraft, in particular after an accident to investigate its causes. However, not every data recorder on an aircraft is a black box. Service recorders are also used, for example.
