One of the officers took the baby to the hospital, while the other went to search for the parent. He found 33-year-old Janelle Loveless on a shopping spree at a nearby store. WhoThe woman told the police officer that she “simply forgot her son was in the car.” The Pennsylvania Department of Child Services is currently investigating. According to The New York Post, the woman faces criminal charges for recklessly endangering a child.
Quakertown Police Chief Scott McElree told the Journal that kid was in the car for more than 30 minutes and the temperature inside was 110 degrees Farenheit, or about 43 degrees Celsius. The officer praised the quick action of the “good Samaritan”who didn't hesitate to save the child. McElree explained that this terrifying situation is not unprecedented. Parents in this small community don't realize how hot the temperature in their car can get during the hot summer months.
If it weren't for the citizen who called 911 and pulled the infant out of the car, this incident could have been fatal.
