Christmas Eve a day off from work? There is a petition, PSL comments

PSL, a member of the current government coalition, has submitted parliamentary bills on the matter twice (in 2016 and 2018). PSL spokesman and deputy climate minister MiÅ‚osz Motyka told the newspaper that his club had not abandoned the postulate from years ago. – We believe that this is a topic worth debating. It would be advisable to at least legally shorten working hours on these days, which is already the practice in many in factories. On Christmas Eve, work efficiency is much lower anyway – he emphasized. He announced that PSL will analyze the petition. He did not rule out talks with other coalition partners on this matter.

Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, a senator from the Civic Coalition and a member of the Senate Petitions Committee, explained that there has not yet been a discussion on the content of the petition in the Senate coalition and no decisions have been made. On the other hand, Tomasz Trela, a member of parliament from the Left, stated: “I am open to this type of discussion, because it is no secret that in many industries, work on December 24 is a fiction. And if something is a fiction, why maintain it?”

Good Friday and Christmas Eve off from work? PSL submitted two petitions

The petitioner of the 2016 petition was the current Minister of Development and Technology, Krzysztof Paszyk. His project provided that on Good Friday and Christmas Eve, working hours would be shortened to four hours. Two years later, a similar petition was filed by former MP Urszula Pasławska. She proposed that Good Friday and Christmas Eve should be completely free from work.
