A 20-year-old man called the emergency number to say that someone had kidnapped his 17-year-old sister and was threatening to kill her. The police found the girl accompanied by her brother. The man received a ticket for calling the services without justification.

Informing about the incident, the spokeswoman of the District Police Headquarters in Ciechanów, aspirant Magda Zarembska, emphasized that the officers treat every report very seriously, unfortunately quite often they are called without justification. And this is exactly what happened in the case of the notification that arrived on Wednesday from the Provincial Emergency Notification Center.

Fictitious kidnapping of the sister

– The reporting party reported that someone had kidnapped his sister and was threatening to kill her. Police patrols were immediately dispatched to the site. The police noticed a woman matching the given description. It turned out that the 17-year-old was safe and sound, and no kidnapping had occurred, Zarembska said.

As explained by the spokeswoman of the Ciechanów police, the woman who was the subject of the report showed that during a telephone conversation with her 20-year-old brother, she informed him that three men she knew were following her, but she denied that anyone had made criminal threats against her.

When the police talked to the 17-year-old, she was in the company of her mother and her brother, whom the officers had not found at home before, where they went immediately after the report.

The 20-year-old got a ticket

– A 20-year-old resident of the Ciechanów district was fined PLN 500 for calling the services without justification, Zarembska informed. As she noted, “the 17-year-old’s brother could not explain his behavior in any way.” – He accepted the mandate without hesitation – she added.

The police appeal for caution when using the emergency number 112.

“In addition to the legal and financial consequences, let us remember that by blocking the emergency phone, we prevent the person who may really need help from calling. Involving the services to make a fictitious report means that they cannot be in the place where such help is needed at that time.” – emphasize the officers.
