They were shooting at fixed targets, not teenagers who were on the field. This version of events was presented by the suspects of shooting two people with a pneumatic weapon. The event took place on Thursday in Ciechanów (Mazowieckie Voivodeship) next to the building of one of the local high schools.
Report from one of the high schools in Ciechanów about the fact that there was supposed to happen on the pitch shooting at students, was received by the local district headquarters on Thursday noon. Students who were in the school at the time heard gunshots. Two of them – a 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl – were slightly injured.
Four men were detained
On Friday and Saturday, the police detained a total of four men aged 25 to 32, who were charged. In the apartment of one of them, two air guns and two containers with pellets were found.
As Piotr Tyszka, the deputy district prosecutor in Ciechanów, announced on Monday, an investigation is underway into the shooting of two students. All four suspects were placed under police surveillance.
– The charges against the suspects concern the fact that on September 7, jointly and in agreement, they exposed minors to a direct danger of loss of life or serious damage to health by firing a pneumatic weapon – said prosecutor Tyszka.
According to him, during the interrogation, the suspects did not admit to the alleged act, with three of them confirming that they were at the place where the shots were fired, and the fourth suspect denying it.
They shot at targets, not people
– The findings of the proceedings so far show that all suspects shot, and shots from automatic weapons were fired in the bushes from the area adjacent to the pitch – explained the prosecutor. As he noted, in the submitted explanations, the suspects stated that “they shot at targets they had set themselves, not at people who were on the pitch, and the shots were fired in the same direction”.
Piotr Tyszka also confirmed earlier findings that two students on the school playground, a 16-year-old and a 16-year-old, were injured as a result of shots from pneumatic weapons. – In both cases, these are injuries to the epidermis – he noted. Earlier, the police reported that the injured students did not require hospitalization and medical assistance.
Residents of Ciechanów County
According to the District Police Headquarters in Ciechanów, the first arrest in the case took place on Friday, the day after the incident – a 30-year-old was arrested then, and two air guns and two containers with pellets were found in his apartment. Within the next few hours, two more men, aged 25 and 26, were detained at their place of residence, and on Saturday a 32-year-old woman was detained. All those detained are residents of the Ciechanów district.
Police officers from Ciechanów were supported in their activities by officers from Radom, from the criminal department of the Provincial Police Headquarters.
According to Art. 160 of the Penal Code, anyone who exposes a person to a direct danger of loss of life or grievous bodily harm shall be subject to the penalty of deprivation of liberty for up to three years.
