The police chased three men suspected of stealing a car from a property in the Ciechanowiec commune (Podlaskie Voivodeship). The fugitives rammed an unmarked police car. The policemen riding in it were injured. Finally, the escapees drove the car into the fence. One of the men managed to escape on foot. He was arrested the next day.

It started with a report that a Nissan had been stolen on one of the properties in the Ciechanów commune.

All police patrols were sent into action. In the meantime, the officers also received information that fuel had been stolen at the gas station.

“As established by the criminal investigators, the reports concerned the same vehicle. After noticing the car, the officers immediately gave chase. The driver did not respond to signals to stop the vehicle and accelerated rapidly,” we read in a message on the website of the County Police Headquarters in Wysokie Mazowiecki.

The fugitives rammed police officers in an unmarked police car who were trying to stop them. The officers were injured. After hitting the police car, the Nissan drove into the fence of one of the roadside properties.

One managed to escape

“Two men started to escape on foot, and one stayed in the car. The fleeing driver turned out to be a 27-year-old resident of Wysokie Mazowieckie County,” the police inform.

The second of the running men managed to escape. The 26-year-old was arrested the next morning at his home. The police found amphetamine there.

They heard the charges

The District Prosecutor's Office in Wysokie Mazowiecki initiated an investigation and brought charges against the detainees. The 59-year-old, who stayed in the car and did not run away on foot, was charged with burglary and theft of a Nissan. The 26-year-old will be charged with possession of amphetamine.

The 27-year-old driver faced the most charges. These include active assault on officers, failure to stop for a road check despite light and sound signals while being under the influence of alcohol, damage to property and burglary.

“Some of the described acts were committed by him under conditions of recidivism. By the court's decision, the resident of Wysokie Mazowiecki County will spend the next three months in custody. Men for burglary may face up to 10 years in prison. Due to committing crimes under conditions of recidivism, the penalty may be increased by half “- says the message.
