– A majority is needed for the civil partnership act to be passed. We are talking to PSL – said Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy (Poland 2050) in “Fakty po Faktach”. She said that Poland 2050 is “for civil partnerships, for the so-called small care and has nothing against people entering into civil partnerships with dignity, in a place where they will feel festive”.

Minister for Equality Catherine Kotula announced that after many months of meetings, negotiations and work of the expert team the draft law on civil partnerships has been included in the government's work list.

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz: Poles need this

Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, referring to this issue, said in “Fakty po Faktach” that Poland 2050 is “for civil partnerships, for the so-called minor care, i.e. adopting children who are already in a relationship, because it is good for these children, not adopting children completely from outside, and has nothing against people entering into these civil partnerships with dignity, in a place where they will feel festive.”

– We know that a majority is needed for this bill to pass and we are talking to PSL. We are convincing that this should go forward realistically. We see our role in such a way that, having a very clear position here, at the same time we can use our good relations with PSL to convince them, because this is a good solution – said the minister. – Today, Poles really need it – she assessed.

PSL has reservations about some provisions, including the issue of entering into civil partnerships at the Civil Registry Office. Deputy Prime Minister, President of PSL Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz He said at the end of June that the position of the majority of his party's MPs was clear: making life easier – yes, the issue of equalizing civil partnerships with marriage, adoption and adoption of children – no.

– I can say that both as a ministry and I from Poland 2050, if this act includes the Civil Registry Office, minor care and civil partnerships, we will be in favour. But the trick is to talk to PSL today (…) so that there is an effect in the end, so that there is this act and a good solution – Pełczyńska-Nałęcz emphasised.
