Since Friday, the popular trail from the Valley of Five Polish Ponds through Świstówka Roztocka to Morskie Oko has been closed to tourist traffic. A mother bear and her cubs hibernate there.
The trail will be closed in both directions until May 15. – Near Świstówka, on the slopes of Opalony Wierch, there is a she-bear’s lair with two cubs – said Grzegorz Bryniarski, a forester from Morskie Oko.
For the winter period, also for nature protection reasons, sections of the trails were closed: Przełęcz w Grzybowiec – Wyżnia Kondracka Przełęcz and Dolina Tomanowa – from the turn at Kamienisty Żleb to Chuda PrzeŁączka.
As Bryniarski said, “in the area of the plain above Kępa, there are black grouses, a lynx and chamois were seen.”
