Coldplay announces an environmentally friendly tour
“We have been planning this tour for years and we are very excited to be able to play songs from the entire period we spent together,” the band announced, quoted in the announcement published on the National Stadium website. “At the same time, we are very aware that the planet is facing a climate crisis. So we have spent the last two years consulting with environmental experts to make this route as sustainable as possible and, equally important, to use its potential to push things forward” – musicians announce.
On the official website of the tour, there is a commitment to make it as environmentally friendly as possible. The team aims to emit half as much CO2 as during the last tour in 2016-2017. He also wants each performance to be powered exclusively by renewable and low-carbon energy. To this end, musicians want to use solar panels, used cooking oil, kinetic flooring in stadiums and bikes, driven by fans. The energy generated in this way is to be stored in a portable battery, made in cooperation with BMW.
Coldplay also promises to plant one tree for every ticket sold. It will encourage fans to look for low-emission transport to concerts. For this purpose, a special tourist application has been created, and people using it will receive discounts to be carried out at the venue of a given concert. During each show, the band will be offering free water to limit the sale of plastic bottles. Additionally, 10 percent of the income from the tour will be donated to ecological and environmental purposes.
Suspended concerts due to ecology
Let us remind you that in 2019 Coldplay suspended plans to tour with material from the new album “Everyday Life” because of concerns about the environmental impact of the concerts. – At this point we have done many big tours. How to change it so that there is not so much taking but more giving? – said Chris Martin in an interview with the BBC.
“We all need to find the best way to do our work,” the singer pointed out, saying the band wanted their future tours to have a “positive impact”. “Our next tour will be the best ecological version of the tour possible,” said Martin. “We would be disappointed if it were not carbon neutral,” he added.
