Double baby killer Colin Pitchfork has been arrested and recalled to jail, the Ministry of Justice has mentioned.

It comes two months after he was launched from jail.

Pitchfork was returned to custody on Friday over a breach of his licence circumstances, and his re-release will likely be a matter for the Parole Board, it’s understood.

A Probation Service spokesperson mentioned: “Defending the general public is our primary precedence so when offenders breach the circumstances of their launch and doubtlessly pose an elevated danger, we do not hesitate to return them to custody.”

Now in his early 60s, Pitchfork was jailed for all times after raping and strangling 15-year-olds Lynda Mann and Daybreak Ashworth in Leicestershire in 1983 and 1986 respectively.

On the time he dedicated his first crime, Pitchfork was a 22-year-old, married father-of-two.

He was finally caught after the world’s first mass screening for DNA – the place 5,000 males in three villages had been requested to volunteer blood or saliva samples – and admitted two murders, two rapes, two indecent assaults and conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.

Pitchfork grew to become the primary man convicted of homicide on the idea of DNA proof in 1988.

His 30-year minimal time period was reduce by two years in 2009, and he was moved to open jail HMP Leyhill in Gloucestershire three years in the past.

Following a listening to in March, the Parole Board dominated Pitchfork was “appropriate for launch”, regardless of this being denied in 2016 and 2018.
