Western Columbia has been hit by heavy rain over the last 24 hours. In the Choco department, they led to a serious accident.

The accident occurred on the road connecting Medellin with Quibdo in the Choco department. The victims were people who left their cars to take shelter from the downpour in a roadside house. However, the building was crushed by a landslide.

According to the mayor of the nearby city of El Carmen de Atrato in an interview with local media, at least 23 people died and several were injured as a result of the avalanche. Initially, at least 18 deaths and 30 injuries were reported.
