On April 14, the Sejm adopted a law establishing a commission to investigate Russian influence on Poland’s internal security. – This is a criminal-administrative-inquisitorial hybrid. Possibility of applying a penal measure by an administrative body. We are going back to the Middle Ages, said Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, an independent senator, in “Fakty po Faktach”. – This commission has nothing to do. It is created for one purpose only. The first invitation or the first summons to this committee will concern Donald Tusk – said MP Tomasz Trela from Nowa Lewica.
Sejm adopted on April 14 a law on a commission to investigate Russian influence on Poland’s internal security. The opposition claims that this is an unconstitutional regulation aimed at them. Even before the vote, Janusz Kowalski from Solidarna Polska admitted that he hoped that “the effect of the commission’s work will be to put Donald Tusk before the State Tribunal”. The bill will now go to the Senate.
The guests of “Fakty po Faktach” were Krzysztof Kwiatkowski, an independent senator, and Tomasz Trela, MP from Nowa Lewica.
Kwiatkowski: there can be only one motion – the Senate’s veto
– This is a criminal-administrative-inquisitorial hybrid. Possibility of applying a penal measure by an administrative body. We’re going back to the Middle Ages. After that, humanity evolved a little. It introduced the presumption of innocence. It introduced the possibility of appeal to an independent court, which is not available here (in the case of the commission for examining Russian influence – ed.) – assessed Krzysztof Kwiatkowski.
– Here bam, measure for ten years. De facto annihilation from politics without any procedure, by persons appointed in a political manner, without the attribute of independence – he added, referring to the possibility of the commission banning a given person from performing functions related to the disposal of public funds for up to ten years.

The senator announced that the Senate Legislative Committee would meet next week and “do what was not done in the Sejm” with the bill. We take this bill seriously. We will show where its shortcomings are. Where is it against the constitution. (…) There can be only one motion – the Senate’s veto – the rejection of the bill in its entirety – said Kwiatkowski.
Trela: it will be grilling in the government media
– This commission has nothing to do. It is created for one purpose only. (…) I can bet anyone. The first invitation or the first summons to this committee will concern Donald Tusk – said Tomasz Trela, declaring that New Left will nominate anyone to sit on the committee. – The chairman will come out, someone from you Zbigniew Ziobro and he will say this: we start from 2007, who was the prime minister of this government? Prime Minister Donald Tusk – he added.
– Tusk will be invited for breakfast, Tusk for lunch, Tusk for dinner. It’s not about figuring anything out. It’s about doing a show on government television. (…) It will be grilling in the government media – he said. – This will most likely happen 30, 25, 20 days before the election – he added.
The MP of the New Left reminded that initially, apart from the opposition, Zbigniew Ziobro’s members of Solidarna Polska also opposed the creation of the commission. – They had to get along with Zbigniew Ziobro. To appease him. Let the commission be established. Ziobro must have negotiated something. They have one goal. They will do everything possible to stay in power by all means, because they know that if they lose the election, it will not be a transfer of power. Some of them will go to jail, he added.
