Elżbieta Witek, first of all, is running away from responsibility, and secondly, she is either afraid of Jarosław Kaczyński, or she was really just an executor of her boss’s orders – this is how Marta Wcisło from the Civic Coalition commented on the testimony before the investigative committee of the former Speaker of the Sejm in “Fakty po Faktach” TVN24. Piotr Zgorzelski, deputy speaker of the Sejm from PSL-Trzecia Droga, said that he was “convinced” that those responsible for the envelope elections would be held accountable.

Members of the parliamentary investigative committee on elections envelopes interrogated the former Speaker of the Sejm on Wednesday Elżbieta Witek.

Witek: I don’t remember who and when I learned about the postal elections

The chairman of the committee, Dariusz Joński (KO), asked the former Speaker of the Sejm when and from whom she first heard about the idea of postal elections for all voters. – I absolutely do not know and I do not remember from whom and when I learned about the postal elections – said Witek. When asked why Poczta Polska should organize elections instead NECreplied that no one knew how long the pandemic would last COVID-19 and how to deal with it. The former Speaker of the Sejm also said that even now, after four years, she does not know any opinion on how the presidential election could have been held during the pandemic in accordance with the constitution.

Wcisło: the other person in the country knows nothing, did not participate in anything or does not remember anything

They discussed the testimony of Marshal Witek in “Fakty po Faktach” on TVN24 Piotr Zgorzelskideputy speaker of the Sejm from PSL-Trzecia Droga and Marta Wcisło, MP from the Civic Coalition.

– The second person in the state does not know anything, did not participate in anything or does not remember anything – this is how we can de facto say that the Speaker of the Sejm ran the secretariat of the ruling party and her boss, i.e. Jarosław Kaczyński. One can ask whether she was not the secretary of Prime Minister Kaczyński, and later of an ordinary MP – commented MP Wcisło.

– The second person in the country who says that even if he participated in the meeting on Nowogrodzka Street, he does not remember the content of this meeting and does not remember who participated in it – this is simply a mockery. This proves that, firstly, Marshal Witek is running away from responsibility, and secondly, she is either afraid of Jarosław Kaczyński, or she really was only executing the orders of her boss, which is a terrible thing, because she performed a very important function – she continued.

She also talked about what effects should be expected from the work of the investigative commission. – If it turns out that before the investigative commission, during testimony, Mateusz Morawiecki states that he did not make the decision, which means, in a word, there is no one to blame. This will mean that for eight years we have unfortunately not lived in a democratic country, but in a country managed by a person from Nowogrodzka, Mr. President. And a thesis should be put forward whether the state authorities and state institutions worked properly, she said.

Zgorzelski: no one who is at fault will escape responsibility

Deputy Marshal Zgorzelski also commented on the matter. – Eight years of rule by Law and Justice were something that Marshal Witek rightly described in one of her earlier tweets: life in an alternative reality. Because we know well that it was not the tenant of the palace on Krakowskie Przedmieście, or the tenant of the office in Aleje Ujazdowskie, or finally Marshal Witek herself, (…) who made the decisions – he said.

As he continued, “decisions were made completely elsewhere – in the extra-constitutional political center at Nowogrodzka Street.”

He also said that he was “convinced” that those responsible for the envelope elections would be held accountable. He added that “no one who is at fault will escape responsibility.” – I see that the members of this commission are preparing very well to ask very difficult questions of their witnesses or summoned persons. Of course, those on the side of Law and Justice are doing everything to make it difficult for them, but let’s be calm – said the Deputy Speaker of the Sejm.

As Zgorzelski said, the head of government “showed citizens that Poland has recently been a country under surveillance, that the institution of acquittal of people who used surveillance has become (…) a license for impunity.” – This led to these gentlemen, when they were acquitted in 2015, deciding that they now had impunity and could do anything. Fortunately for democracy, apparently those who were also wiretapped were their own people, added Zgorzelski, referring to the case of the convicted and acquitted. Mariusz Kamiński and Maciej Wąsik.

Wcisło about the Pegasus case: PiS politicians were really scared

MP Wcisło also commented on the issue of Pegasus surveillance. She also said that there could have been representatives among those under surveillance PiS. – Behind the scenes people say “I wonder who among us was wiretapped.” She added that “PiS politicians were really scared.”

– Donald Tusk revealed what we said, that Pegasus was used legally and illegally. It was bought with money that was supposed to benefit crime victims, but it became a tool for committing crimes. It has become a cyber tool in the hands of dangerous people, she continued.

She added that “Pegasus and what PiS has created is a cybertool in the hands of a pyromaniac who holds matches and can set it on fire at any time.”
