Perhaps someday, when Poland is ready for this – said Confederation MP Michał Wawer, when asked about the issue of a possible exit from the European Union. He estimated that “above all, we should be ready that the European Union would simply fall apart.” The head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski referred to the words of Wawra.

In an interview with the Vice -President of the Confederation Club on Wednesday, the issue of Poland's presence in the European Union appeared on Radio ZET. – (Confederation) Maybe we would like us to leave this European Union, right? the host of the program asked. – Perhaps someday, when Poland is ready for it – said Michał Wawer. – We even with MP Anna Bryłka a few years ago prepared such a document “Polexit – a safe emergency output” – he added.

As he reported, this document says that “in the long run there may be a situation in which Poland wants or has to leave the European Union and we should currently focus on preparing for it.”

– It means to regain even the ability to act in areas that have been in the hands of the European Union for 20 years. Just even commercial policy – pointed out Wawer. – We have not been conducting our own commercial and customs policy in Poland for two decades, because European Union This took over and this means that we also do not have people in public administration who know each other, who can negotiate it, who can do it and we should rebuild these abilities – he said.

When asked what perspective we could leave the EU, he replied: – I have no idea. It depends on the systems in the European Union itself and the pace of our preparations.

– First of all, we should be ready that the European Union will simply fall apart – said Wawer. In his opinion, “such a scenario is on the table.”

– Ideas, dictates that the Polish nation will simply agree to simply agree from the European Union at any time – he said.

To beyond the fact that a possible way out of the EU means that we are alone, Wawer said that “this is the question whether we will be completely alone, because if the European Union is falling apart, we are not alone.” – Then other countries are also outside the European Union and we can, for example, build a new commercial block, a new common market, perhaps with all the countries of the former European Union, perhaps with those from our region, maybe somehow different – he added.

Sikorski reacts: so that no one would say that he did not know

The MP's statement was commented on Thursday morning in social media, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski.

“That no one would say that he did not know that by voting for a confederation, he votes in favor of going out with the EU and creating a customs barrier on the Oder,” he wrote.
