President-elect Donald Trump announced on Friday the names of other politicians proposed for high positions in the new administration. They include candidates for head of the Office of Management and Budget and secretaries of labor, as well as housing and urban development.
Russell Vought has been named director of the Office of Management and Budget. He held this position already during his first term Donald Trump. He was closely involved in Project 2025, a conservative agenda that Trump himself has sought to publicly distance himself from.
According to the AP, Vought combined his deep knowledge of government finances with his Christian faith. After Trump's first term ended, he founded the Center for American Renewal, a think tank that describes its mission as “renewing America's consensus as a nation under God.”

Collaboration with Musk
Vought's proposed budget plan involves cutting spending. The plan also includes a $3.3 trillion cut to the Department of Health and Human Services, largely through changes to how Medicaid and Medicare funds are distributed.
Conservative loyalist Vought, as director of the Office of Management and Budget, would work with billionaire Elon Musk and former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy to implement Trump's campaign promise to cut government spending and regulations, Reuters reported.

Trade union ally and football player
Trump chose Congresswoman Lori Chavez-DeRemer of Oregon, one of the few Republicans considered a staunch ally of labor unions, as labor secretary. Trump said it will help “ensure that the Department of Labor unites Americans of all backgrounds in an agenda for unprecedented national success.”
Former football player Scott Turner, who worked in the first Trump administration, was nominated by the president-elect to be secretary of housing and urban development. “Scott will work with me to make America great again for every American,” Trump said.

National health and security
Trump announced additional health and national security nominations on Friday.
Janette Nesheiwat, a family physician and Fox News commentator, was tapped to be surgeon general; Dave Weldon, a former Florida congressman, was tapped by the president-elect to head the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Marty Makary, a university surgeon Johns Hopkins, to head the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
