The contract for the junction project was signed with the consortium of Elkol and Mosty Katowice. Its value is exactly PLN 84.8 million. The CPK company informs in a press releasethat the implementation will enable the completion of design documentation and the application for a building permit for the key section of the Warsaw – Łódź “Y” line from the airport perspective. This is a route that is planned to be launched in 2032, i.e. simultaneously with the first stage of the airport. The “Y” sections Łódź – Wrocław and Sieradz – Poznań are planned to be opened to passengers by 2035.
Construction of CPK. Contract worth nearly PLN 85 million
The designer will base his work on a feasibility study prepared for the company in 2021-2023 and on the environmental decision obtained in July 2023 for the airport and the CPK hub. The basic order is to be completed in a year and a half, and the entire contract in four years. The basic order includes, among others, preparation of a construction design, obtaining a building permit and development of materials for administrative decisions and geological and engineering documentation. Scope wash The projects carried out under the contract include the design of, among others:
- the central section of the Warsaw – Łódź High Speed Rail (HSR) line within the new airport area, i.e. the first element of the “Y” Warsaw – Łódź – Wrocław / Poznań;
- section of railway line No. 88 connecting the CPK railway station with the existing Warsaw – Poznań route (line No. 3);
- cargo station on the west side of the airport.
Maciej Lasek, government representative for the construction of the CPK, emphasizes that “designing the railway junction is currently one of the key agreements.”
The success of the new airport cannot be expected without its good connection with the rail network. Hence, it is so important that the CPK hub project is a response to the communication needs of passengers and is prepared by experts with many years of experience in the industry
– he adds.
The contractor will design elements of the railway infrastructure of the junction from various sectors, including track, telecommunications, traction and traffic control. The Central Communication Port located between Warsaw and Łódź will cost nearly PLN 132 million and is to be built by 2032. The investment also includes the construction of a High Speed Rail system.
Central Communication Port. What has been done so far?
The CPK company reports that since January alone it has concluded agreements with over 20 companies, and the total value of the contracts is over PLN 500 million. Among other things, in August, an agreement was signed for the design of the Air Operations Control Center. “The master architect's work on the construction design of the airport, railway station and transfer hub is advanced. At the same time, the civil engineering designer continues to work on the documentation for, among others, runways, taxiways and aprons.
Design of supporting facilities, including the air traffic control tower, is ongoing. Competitive dialogue is also underway regarding the Baggage Handling System (BHS)” – we read in the company's press release. In July, CPK announced a tender for the construction of a high-speed rail tunnel in Łódź. Over the past month, “investor variants for two lines with a total length of approx. 300 km: CPK junction – Płock – Włocławek and Ostrołęka – Łomża line Write – Gizycko”.
