The Chief Sanitary Inspectorate issued a warning regarding contamination of chips with thermal oil. The Inspectorate was informed about the recall of specific batches of chips conducted by the manufacturer Intersnack Poland.
GIS reported that the manufacturer immediately removed the defect that caused the contamination, but some of the products were manufactured and introduced to the market before this happened.
Laboratory tests of products manufactured before the defect was discovered showed elevated levels of mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH) and mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH). Mineral oil hydrocarbons, and particularly MOAH, are substances potentially harmful to health that should not be found in food.
This concerns specific product batches. Przysnacki Crisps in a Cauldron, roasted.

GIS reported that the manufacturer, after detecting the contamination of the products, immediately took action to withdraw them from sale. It notified the State Sanitary Inspectorate about the incident, with which it is cooperating in the actions in response to this situation.
Warnings concerning food or products intended to come into contact with food are regularly published on the website of the Chief Sanitary Inspectorate.
These announcements – as GIS emphasizes – are not intended to stigmatize entrepreneurs, but to take immediate action: returning products to the store or withdrawing them from the assortment. Thanks to cooperation with food industry companies, consumers can be quickly and effectively informed about the threat.
