Contraband meant for Virginia jail results in schoolyard as a result of errant drone

A drone that was getting used to ship contraband to a rural Virginia jail dropped the bundle as an alternative at a close-by personal college. 

The Brunswick County Sheriff’s Workplace stated the bundle, which contained marijuana, tobacco and cell telephones, was dropped on college grounds round 5:40 a.m. Monday.

Shortly afterward, the errant drone was retrieved by folks in a dark-colored sedan within the Brunswick Academy’s car parking zone, in keeping with the sheriff’s workplace. 

Authorities concluded that the bundle was meant for the Lawrenceville County Correctional Facility, a one-minute drive from the college. 

Illicit drone deliveries to inmates apparently is not uncommon within the space. The sheriff’s workplace stated it has obtained numerous calls this 12 months complaining concerning the “identical legal exercise.”

The seized bundle has been turned over to the Virginia Division of Corrections. The investigation is ongoing.
