According to the councilors of the Lower Silesian Voivodship, who started an inspection at the Wrocław Opera on Monday, Bartosz Rybak, an associate of the Minister of Education, Przemysław Czarnek, paid PLN 1,850 for renting it for his birthday.

As reported on Monday in social media by Marek Łapiński, chairman of the Civic Coalition Club in the Sejmik of Lower Silesia, the voivodship councilors started an inspection at the Opera in Wrocław. As the local government official wrote, “we had an initial conversation with the management of the facility. We know that a natural person paid PLN 1,850 for renting space at the Opera for a special event on February 17 …”.

The visit of local government officials to the facility is related with press reports on the organization of a private party at the Opera. The Marshal’s Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship announced its urgent inspection on Wednesday.

The director of the Wrocław Opera Halina Ołdakowska is about to lose her position – a resolution on the intention to dismiss her from the function was adopted by the board of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. According to the regional authorities, this is the result of the negative results of the inspections carried out in the facility by the Supreme Audit Office, the Marshal’s Office and the Regional Adjudication Committee operating at the Regional Accounting Chamber.

The director is to be dismissed because the auditors have shown that the opera has violated the law in the field of public finance discipline. In the background, there is also the case of the birthday party of Bartosz Rybak, an associate of the Minister of Education, Przemysław Czarnek. It was to be organized in February at an institution in Wrocław, and prominent politicians were to take part in it PIS, headed by Minister Czarnek. “Fact” was the first to report on the case.

We have been informing about this case on tvn24.pl for several days. Bartosz Rybak, who performs “expert services” in the Ministry of Education. They consist, among others, in cooperation with non-governmental and Polish community organizations.

Disco polo in Chinese

His birthday party was organized on February 17 in the building of the Wrocław Opera. The guests celebrated on the stage where Giacomo Puccini’s “La bohème” was staged that evening. Then food warmers arrived on the stage of the opera house. The guests were entertained by Sławomir Świerzyński from the Bayer Full band, who – as you can hear on the recordings obtained by the daily “Fakt” – told anecdotes about the Chinese language, the local audience and sang songs in Chinese (including “Freedom” and “Majteczki w ropeczki”) .

The minister was to attend the event Przemyslaw Czarnek with his wife (the minister was to be accompanied by the bodyguards of the State Protection Service), as well as, among others, Cardinal Gerhard Müller, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the State Fire Service, rectors of universities, including the rector of the Wrocław University of Technology and the Academy of Music, and local PiS politicians.

The jubilarian initially publicly claimed that he covered the costs from his own pocket. However, the journalists of “Fact” established that the invoices for the catering (exceeding well over PLN 20,000) were paid by the “Pro Civium European Institute” – a foundation from Lublin.

“He was nervous”

This information – in an interview with the newspaper – was to be confirmed by Bartosz Rybak himself. He explained that earlier “he was nervous” and therefore he was not precise in his statement.

“As part of our internal settlements, I asked the Foundation to make payments for catering at the Wrocław Opera – it is in accordance with the law. I have never promised the Foundation’s authorities any support when applying for public subsidies. It is worth noting that, to my knowledge, the Foundation does not use funding from public funds” – such a statement by Bartosz Rybak is quoted by “Fakt”.
