At the end of February this year, Wołodymyr Zelanski stated that he was ready to give way to his position if it would contribute to the establishment of peace in Ukraine. This declaration was submitted after the president USA Donald Trump described him “dictator without elections“, referring to the fact that due to the war in Ukraine, the presidential elections planned for last year. “He refused to conduct elections, he has very low quotations in surveys in Ukraine and the only thing he was in is the wrapping biden around his finger,” Trump argued in the entry on his Truth Social platform.

Before talking in Dżudda, the American NBC News television station said that the conditions set by the White House regarding the resumption of aid for Ukraine concern territorial concessions, “Movement towards the election” or Zelnski's resignation from the position.

According to this television, citing two representatives of the current administration, President Donald Trump was to tell advisers that the mere signing of the partnership agreement in the operation of Ukrainian natural resources is not enough to resume military and intelligence support for Ukraine.

NBC News said that Trump would like to sign this agreement, but was also to demand a change in the attitude of the Ukrainian president, including readiness for territorial concessions. Trump was also to postulate that Zelanski “would make a movement towards elections in Ukraine and maybe give way to” ex officio.

According to Ukrainian law and constitution, the election may only take place six months after the abolition of martial law.

Politico about secret conversations with the opposition

On March 6, the Politico portal wrote that four people from the close surroundings of President Trump had secret talks with representatives of the Ukrainian opposition: former Prime Minister Julia Tymoshenko and high -ranking members of the party of the former President of Ukraine Petr Poroshenko. The talks were to concern the issue of conducting the presidential election in Ukraine.

Both Tymoshenko and Poroshenko reacted to the reports of Politico, categorically denying this.

“Our grouping is negotiating with all our allies who can help to ensure a fair peace as soon as possible. Until then, I said it more than once, there can be no choices in Ukraine,” said Tymoshenko in social media.

Poroshenko also pointed out that the elections in Ukraine should take place after the weapon's suspension and signing a peace agreement with security guarantees for Kiev.

At the end of February this year, the Ukrainian Supreme Council adopted a resolution in which it was announced that the election of the President of Ukraine would be announced after the war and providing lasting peace. The resolution also states that the mandate of President Volodymyr Zelanski is “legal and unquestioned by the nation.”
