It was a mere oversight – explained the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen, who was recorded when she was shopping without a mask in one of the clothing stores in Copenhagen. A few days earlier, the Danish government tightened sanitary restrictions, reintroducing the need to cover the mouth and nose in some public places.

The video showing Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen without a mask in one of the clothing stores in Copenhagen was taken on Friday. On Saturday, the material was published by the Danish media. “It was just an oversight after the new rules came into force,” the head of government wrote on social media.

“I know this can happen to anyone, but it’s best if it doesn’t. I regret it, of course,” said Frederiksen. On this occasion, the prime minister thanked the society “for what we are doing to stop the epidemic.”

Coronavirus in Denmark

The Danish public health institute, the Statens Serum Institut (SSI), said on Sunday that the number of people infected with a new variant of the coronavirus – the omicron – has increased to 183 confirmed cases in the country. A spokesman for the Danish patient safety authority said Wednesday that a person infected with omicron attended a concert on 27 November attended by around 1,600 people.

At the beginning of the week, the Danish authorities tightened some sanitary restrictions. Among other things, the obligation to cover the nose and mouth has been restored in some public places and in public transport.
