The United Kingdom is seeing a large increase in new coronavirus infections, with over 29,000 infections detected on Wednesday. On the other hand, the statistics on patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 – both newly admitted and currently in hospitals – are falling.
British authorities on Wednesday announced 29,312 newly detected infections and 119 registered deaths due to COVID-19. The balance of infections is over 7,600 higher than on Tuesday and almost 1,600 higher than last Wednesday. The series of five consecutive days with falling statistics was also interrupted.
Decrease in the number of deaths and sick people in hospitals
The number of deaths in the last day is 19 lower than that reported on Tuesday. Although it is higher by 29 than it was on Wednesday last week, the increases in the last seven days in relation to the previous seven days are not as big as two weeks ago. The total balance for the last seven days is 570 dead, up 14.5 percent. more than before.
On the other hand, the statistics on patients in hospitals due to COVID-19 – both newly admitted and currently in them – are falling. While still 1-2 weeks ago, more than 900 people were admitted to hospitals during the day, now it is about 700, and the total number of currently hospitalized again fell below 6,000 – as of Tuesday, it was 5,896 patients.
