Coronavirus infections in Italy are on the rise. Nearly 143,000 new infections were detected on Tuesday – the most in this wave of the pandemic. The number of deaths from COVID-19 has also increased.
Almost 143,000 infections coronavirus last day we detected Italy the country’s health ministry said on Tuesday. This is the largest number in this wave of the pandemic, not recorded in Italy since late January. 157 people have died, the most since April.
550,000 tests were performed in one day – 26 percent of them were positive. Currently, as many tests are performed as in March during the previous pandemic wave. Queues for tests are forming in front of pharmacies again.
The number of infections in prisons is increasing
More than 1.3 million people are currently infected in Italy, according to an official report. There are approximately 10,000 COVID-19 patients in hospitals, including 375 in intensive care.
In a week, the number of infected prisoners in prisons increased four times, from 160 to over 600, the prison service said.
