Adam Niedzielski, in a letter to the chairman of the Polish Episcopal Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki, asked “to remind dioceses, deaneries and parishes of information about the need to cover the nose and mouth in closed spaces”. “We still need to focus our efforts on reducing this transmission and protecting the elderly, immunocompromised, chronically ill” – he emphasized.
The Minister of Health, Adam Niedzielski, wrote to the chairman of the Polish Bishops’ Conference, Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki. In a letter read by the Polish Press Agency, the head of the ministry indicated that “as the minister of health, he does everything to prevent the fourth wave from affecting us as much as the three previous ones”.
Health Minister: We must continue to focus our efforts on the protection of the elderly
The minister recalled that the government provided every willing Pole with the possibility of being vaccinated, which – as he emphasized – largely protects against infection, and certainly against the severe course of COVID-19.
“Unfortunately, taking into account the number of vaccinated people, we are not fully protected against the increased transmission of the virus. We still have to focus our efforts on limiting this transmission and protecting the elderly, people with weakened immunity, chronically ill, from dangerous consequences” – noted the head of the Ministry of Health.
Niedzielski: I would like to appeal to you, Archbishop
“Bearing in mind the health and life of Polish citizens, including the faithful of the Catholic Church, I am asking Your Excellency for joint action, which is especially aimed at protecting the weaker from possible infection” – wrote the minister.
“I appeal to the archbishop to remind dioceses, deaneries and parishes of information about the need to cover the nose and mouth in closed spaces” – wrote the head of the Ministry of Health.
Wearing masks is – as he noted – next to vaccinations, the main tool to fight the epidemic. “I am asking for this help and counting on the support of the Episcopate in this specific social education, thanks to which we can limit the scope of the fourth wave of the epidemic, which we all should care about” – emphasized the minister.
