Experts call for urgent action in the fourth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic
At the end of November, members of the Main Board of the Polish Society of Epidemiologists and Doctors of Infectious Diseases sent an appeal and an open letter to President Andrzej Duda, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski, Speaker of the Sejm Elżbieta Witek and Speaker of the Senate Tomasz Grodzki. They explained their speech “by the enormous number of cases and deaths caused by COVID-19, limited access to healthcare for patients with other diseases, and the uncertainty related to the emergence of new variants of the virus.”
The specialists called for urgent work on legal acts enabling employers to control the fact that employees have the EU COVID Certificate (UCC) and to take appropriate actions within the workplace. They also asked for urgent work on legal acts limiting the access of non-UCC persons to public places in closed spaces or when it is impossible to keep distance. They also called for action to eliminate and penalize vaccine fraud with high penalties, and to mobilize law enforcement to enforce the already applicable laws on wearing masks in public confined spaces.
