“Experiencing this disease changes people’s perspective a little.”

Doctor Kamil Karpowicz from the University Teaching Hospital in Białystok admitted that the temporary hospital in Białystok “still receives mostly unvaccinated people who seek help too late, if they become ill”. – They report when their disease is advanced enough to develop respiratory failure, which requires advanced oxygen therapy or respiration therapy in intensive care units – he said.

As he added, in the temporary hospital where he works, “vaccinated people are a definite minority, if such people are brought here, they pass the infection mildly”.

Concerning unvaccinated people, the doctor said that “the experience of this disease changes the perspective of people who, for various reasons, have not been vaccinated”. – Some, maybe for ideological reasons, maybe someone advised them not to do it, maybe they did not have time for it – he enumerated.

– Most of the people you talk to, however, regret this decision – emphasized Karpowicz.

“We have 260 deaths, 16 in France”

Professor Krystyna Bieńkowska-Szewczyk, virologist and head of the Department of Molecular Biology of Viruses at the Intercollegiate Faculty of Biotechnology of the University of Gdańsk and the Medical University of Gdańsk, compared “data from two days ago in France and Poland”. – In France, infections were detected in 14,000 people, and in our country the number was exactly the same. 260 people died in Poland, 16 in France – she said.

– Let’s say it was an exceptionally contrasting day, but many, many more people die here than in other countries – she emphasized. “This is an emergency for me,” she added.

Covid-certified virologist

Referring to the restrictions in Western European countries, Bieńkowska-Szewczyk said that “this is primarily the introduction of certificates that are shown everywhere”. – I saw it in Portugal, I saw it in Italy, people take it for granted. Everyone walks with the phone in hand and shows it. I haven’t seen anyone blame it, she said.

The virologist referred to lockdown for unvaccinated people, announced in Austria. As she admitted, “she cannot imagine anything like that in Poland”. – But on the other hand, why should vaccinated people die? – she said.

Bieńkowska-Szewczyk pointed out that “vaccinated persons may become infected from unvaccinated persons, and if they are ill with another disease, such as cancer, then despite the vaccine, they may be covid harder”.
