Six children infected with coronavirus stayed at the Pomeranian Center for Infectious Diseases and Tuberculosis in Gdańsk only on Friday. Among them was a teenage baby. According to the authorities of the facility, most of them are small patients whose parents have not been vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to doctors from the Pomeranian Center for Infectious Diseases and Tuberculosis in Gdańsk, the most common source of infection in children who are hospitalized with COVID-19 are parents who are not vaccinated. About the problem almost a month ago Agnieszka Ogrodnik said in an interview with TVN24, deputy head of the pediatric ward of the Gdańsk hospital. “When doctors ask their parents why they haven’t got vaccinated, they usually hear” because not “, she said.

On Friday, there were six children in this hospital, including a teenage baby.

“We’ve had unbelievable dramas”

It is not only the hospital in Gdańsk that has to deal with the problem. Similar situations also arise in other Polish hospitals.

– We experienced unbelievable dramas here – in the hospital during the previous waves – we witnessed family dramas when children infected, unfortunately fatally, their parents, their grandparents. Later, we saw the despair of these children, those younger family members who survived, and the older ones died – reports prof. Piotr Suwalski, head of the cardiac surgery clinic of the Central Teaching Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Warsaw.
