Coronavirus in Poland. Local government officials appeal to the government for decisive action

Local government officials from the Association of Local Governments for Poland appeal to the government on urgent and decisive actions in the face of the fourth wave of the pandemic, including transparent regulations and the introduction of statutory solutions allowing for the verification of the EU COVID-19 Certificate. The content of the appeal was supported by the presidents Jacek Karnowski, Jacek Sutryk, Rafał Trzaskowski and Tadeusz Truskolaski.

“As local government officials who care for the safety and health of residents from the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we organize the work of many local government institutions in the difficult conditions of the epidemic, from municipal offices through community centers, schools to the efficient operation of health services, hospitals and transport, and we are actively implementing the vaccination program against COVID-19 in our communes “- emphasized in a letter to the government local government officials from the association Local Governments for Poland.


“We call for urgent and effective measures to help ensure the safety of our residents in connection with the growing fourth wave of infections,” wrote the authors of the appeal. As it was noted, “the passivity of the government in mobilizing Polish women and Poles to vaccinate and take care of their and their fellow citizens’ health” is alarming. “We are calling for specific and decisive action that will lead to an increase in the number of people vaccinated against COVID-19,” reads the document.

Local government officials want an urgent tightening of the restrictions

The authors of the appeal demand transparent regulations and urgent introduction of statutory solutions allowing for the checking of the EU COVID Certificate (UCC) among employees and taking appropriate actions within the workplace, especially in hospitals and educational institutions.

Local government officials want to urgently work on legal acts limiting the access of people without UCC to public places in closed spaces or when it is impossible to keep distance, as well as increasing the number of temporary hospitals, including taking measures to eliminate the practice of vaccination fraud.

The authors of the appeal call for the mobilization of law enforcement services to enforce the laws already in force regarding the wearing of masks in public confined spaces.

The content of the appeal was supported by all members of the Association of Local Governments for Poland.
