The Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski is to inform about the rules of vaccination against COVID-19 with another adapted dose today. These are preparations adapted to provide broader protection, taking into account the omicron variant.

Today in Gdańsk, during the conference “Safety and quality in health care”, co-organized by the Ombudsman for Patients’ Rights and the University Clinical Center, a briefing of the head of health ministry. Adam Niedzielski is to inform about the rules of vaccination with the next adapted dose of the vaccine against COVID-19.

The briefing is scheduled for 11.15.

Increase in the number of new COVID-19 infections

In early March, Deputy Minister of Health Waldemar Kraska, commenting on the data on coronavirus infection, admitted that “we have not had such a number of new infections when it comes to COVID-19 for a long time.” – Our forecasts predicted it. We are now at the peak of the spring wave, he said.

After decision of the European Commissionallowing the so-called targeted vaccines, the President of the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products, Grzegorz Cessak, informed in September last year that studies have shown that adapted vaccines provide a greater amount of antibodies capable of neutralizing the BA.1 omicron variant compared to vaccines based on on the original strain.

Cessak explained that the antibodies produced by these vaccines appear to be able to neutralize other omicron variants and subvariants, including BA.2BA.2.75 i BA.5more effectively.
