Coronavirus in Poland. New cases of infection and death – October 21

The Ministry of Health announced on Thursday about 5,592 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. The ministry also said that 46 people with COVID-19 have died. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,956,207 infections have been confirmed in Poland, 76,300 people have died due to the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health’s announcement, the greatest number of new infections in the last 24 hours was confirmed in Lubelskie Voivodeship – 1221.

The remaining infections come from the following voivodeships: Mazowieckie (1048), Podlaskie (522), Podkarpackie (314), Śląskie (288), Zachodniopomorskie (287), Pomorskie (279), Dolnośląskie (269), Greater Poland (244), Kujawsko-Pomorskie ( 217), Łódzkie (214), Małopolskie (195), Warmińsko-Mazurskie (180), Świętokrzyskie (96), Opolskie (89), Lubuskie (85).

44 infections are data without specifying an address, which are to be completed by the sanitary inspection.

According to the Ministry of Health on Thursday, another 46 people died due to COVID-19, 32 of whom had comorbidities.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,956,207 have been confirmed in Poland infection, 76,300 people died due to the coronavirus.


Data from hospitals

An epidemic report released on Thursday said:

8552 the beds are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+185 compared to the previous day), – of this 4034 beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients (+223), – 876 ventilators are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+9), – of which 333 respirators are currently used (+4), – 157 147 people are in quarantine (+22 407), – 2 679 824 people recovered (+1401).

Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said on Wednesday that “for the last two days” we are dealing with a pandemic explosion. “This is a situation that – if it continues – will distort all the forecasts we had so far,” he said.

The minister added that the increase in the incidence is visible not only in terms of the number of infections, but also in new hospitalizations.
