Coronavirus in Poland. New cases of infection and death – October 22

The Ministry of Health announced on Friday 5,706 new cases of SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus infection. The ministry also said that 59 people with COVID-19 have died. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,961,923 infections have been confirmed in Poland, 76,359 people have died due to the coronavirus.

According to the Ministry of Health’s announcement, the greatest number of new infections in the last 24 hours was confirmed in Lubelskie Voivodeship – 1181.

The remaining infections come from the following voivodeships: Mazowieckie (1070), Podlaskie (580), Zachodniopomorskie (317), Łódzkie (313), Śląskie (296), Małopolskie (285), Dolnośląskie (269), Podkarpackie (264), Pomorskie (239) , Greater Poland (228), Kuyavian-Pomeranian (186), Warmian-Masurian (178), Świętokrzyskie (89), Opole (84), Lubuskie (72).

55 infections are data without specifying an address, which are to be completed by the sanitary inspection.

A week ago, the Ministry of Health informed about 2771 confirmed infections. In today’s report, they were recorded by Fr. 2935 more.

According to the Ministry of Health on Friday, 10 people died from COVID-19, while 49 people died due to the coexistence of COVID-19 with other diseases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,961,923 infections have been confirmed in Poland, 76,359 people have died due to the coronavirus.

Data from hospitals

The epidemic data report released on Friday showed that:

8739 beds are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+187 compared to the previous day), – of this 4264 beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients (+230), – 910 ventilators are intended for patients with COVID-19 (+34), – of which 353 respirators are currently used (+20), – 181 800 people are in quarantine (+24 653), – 2 681 591 people recovered (+1767).

Health Minister: We are dealing with a pandemic explosion

Health Minister Adam Niedzielski said on Wednesday that “for the last two days” we are dealing with a pandemic explosion. “This is a situation that – if it continues – will distort all the forecasts we had so far,” he said.

The minister added that the increase in the incidence is visible not only in terms of the number of infections, but also in new hospitalizations.
