On Sunday evening, a tent was burned in Piekary Śląskie, where swabs are taken for coronavirus tests. Preliminary findings indicate that the cause of the fire may have been arson by dousing with a flammable liquid. The police are looking for the perpetrators.

On Sunday, a few minutes after 6 p.m., a mobile collection point for testing materials for coronavirus infection was burning, located at Generała Jerzy Ziętka Street. The services secured the area and undertook a fire-fighting action.

Nobody was hurt – during these hours the point is closed.


After the arrival, the fire-fighting expert carried out a visual inspection together with a forensics technician. The preliminary findings of the expert indicate that the cause of the fire could have been set on fire by pouring a flammable liquid into it.

Piekars’ investigators carry out activities to identify the perpetrators of an act of vandalism, for which there is a penalty of up to 5 years in prison. The police appeals to any witnesses of the incident to contact them.
